Silas Schletterer was born in Middelburg, Netherlands, in 1976, where he grew up. His older brother taught him how to draw at the age of 3 and his teachers were astonished by his talent. Influenced by skateboard graphics he started drawing more seriously at the age of 15. Five years later he joined the Willem the Kooning academy of arts in Rotterdam, from which he graduated in 2000.Today he makes a living as an artist by making paintings and illustrations.

Silas’ paintings can be recognized by his characteristic use of colour and dreamy atmospheres. His primary subjects are melancholy boys and girls and animals that he protraits as imperfect beings. For his paintings he uses acrylic paint often in combination with mixed media. Silas also likes to make shirtdesigns and artwork for bands. He is also a member of the art collective Antistrot, who are making name in the art scene worldwide. In 2008 they had their first solo exhibition in New York.
