Stefan Calţia is a contemporary painter from Bucharest, Romania. Combining personal experiences (running away with the circus) with a vivid imagination, Calţia manages to create dramatic characters, which remind the viewer of both Byzantine iconic figures and theatre-like characters, similar to those of Hieronymus Bosch.
